The Framework for 21st Century Learning - The 4Cs:
Communication, Creativity and Innovation, Collaboration, and Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills.
Below are a few applications that we use to address the (4Cs), which are four primary skills that students need to know before entering the 21st century workforce and to be successful in the global community.
Communication
Animoto - Make a web-based movie from your images in minutes. The end of slideshows!
Vocaroo - Record your voice in directly on their website. Vocaroo gives you several options to share your recoding. It will process and store the recording for you to return to by providing a link, QR code, and/or embed code to your recording. It also gives you the option to download your recording as a MP3, Ogg, FLAC, or WAV file.
Microsoft - Text to Speech
Google Apps - Hangout, Email, etc. - DPS provides all DPS students with an DPS Google account.
Yahoo - Groups,SSES-Spartans e-newsletter. If you would like to scribe The Friday Message, send a blank email to [email protected]. Once you receive the confirmation email, simply press the reply button and send. That will lock in your subscription.

Creativity and Innovation
Voki - Choose an avatar from the site. Record or type a message and Voki will return an embeddable player where it appears that your message is coming from the avatar.
iMovie - Helps students to organize images and video clips. It allows the student turn them into your favorite films or trailers, and then premiere them.
VoiceThread- VoiceThread conversations are media directed, which keeps the discussions focused on the topic at hand. Share a VoiceThread with friends, students, and colleagues for them to record comments too.
Prezi - A different take on the presentation replacing the idea of slides with an endless plane. Toss text, pictures, and even videos onto the plane. Then chart a path from one object to the next. You control the landscape.
Weebly - Creating free website where students can learn to build their own professional web sites.
Globster - Think digital posters. Making a poster online adds the benefit of animation, hyperlinks and a library of images, both their’s and your own. In Ed Globster, students can comment on others’ posters and you guessed it...linked and embeddable.
QR codes - QR or "Quick Response" codes are similar to UPC barcodes. Students learn how to link images, documents and websites to codes.

Collaboration
Edomodo - Edmodo mixes social networking and learning management system aspects into an awesome product. It allows teachers to direct comments, quizzes, assignments, and attachments to specific groups of students’ timelines. Students and parents can be added easily using a passcode without requiring an email address. Edmodo features a built-in gradebook, assignment calendar, a document library and recently added, Google Docs integration. For teachers, Edmodo offers communities to participate.
Google Apps for the Classroom- With a DPS's Google Account, you have access to one of the best online calendar, online word processing, spreadsheet, forms, a wiki, etc… The best part is that all of them are truly collaborative. Students could save documents in an online directory, share them to group members and you could type on them at the same time ( in real time).
VoiceThread - A VoiceThread is a collaborative, multimedia-slide show that holds images, documents, and videos and allows people to navigate pages and leave comments in 5 ways - using voice (with a mic or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). Share a VoiceThread with friends, students, and colleagues for them to record comments too.
Cacoo - Is a brainstorming/mind-mapping tool. It allows students to create diagrams during real time collaboration. This free website allows students to create a variety of diagrams such as site map, flowchart, mind map, wire frame, UML diagram and network diagrams.

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
The Big 6 Model - The Big 6 model is a 6-steps process to help students focus on strategies to effective complete any research and project based assignments.
Poll Everywhere - Create an online poll/survey where the audience text messages in the response.
Wordle - Creates word clouds from a website, entered text or bookmarked accounts. The higher the frequency the word, the larger it will be represented in the graphic design. Wordle allows simple editing of colors, font, and layout.
Quizlet - This is an online learning tool that allows students to study anywhere and at anytime. On the website you will find flashcards, tests, and study games make learning fun and engaging for students of all ages.
Khan Academy - A treasure trove of thousand of 10-20 minute Screencast videos on a wide variety of subjects. Ideally used as part of a flipped classroom instructional model or as review.
Google Apps. - Form, Spreadsheet, etc.-Free app to create forms and spreadsheets with web-based storage… good tools to survey and evaluate.
Popplet - Online brainstorming/mind mapping tool like Cacoo, but it is definitely the easiest of the others mind mapping tools. Public links to your created Popplets and the ability to upload files, make it a possible tool for creating online assignments.
